Gardening not a strong point for the author, green fingered he is not,
however, Marina seems able to grow just about anything.
Some
years ago the small Garden Centre up by the Railway Bridge off Ambleside
closed down, it was a handy amenity meaning you didn’t have to drive
into that strange green stuff ( I think its called countryside) in order
to buy a bag of peat, or fight through the thronged masses on a B&Q
Saturday to buy a strip of Pansies. We thought therefore that without
the support your local sheriff ethos being in place a review of some of
the better online resources may be in order. So below is a few of the
places that do stuff for your little piece of heaven, but online, many
do a full range of everything you could want and plenty more you
wouldn’t, all delivered to your door, each has a link to them just click
the pictures.
Green fingers, they don't sell plants but do sell a whole host of
paraphernalia to make your garden bloom, water features tools and even
furniture all delivered to your door, if you click through from here you
also get free delivery on orders over £ 45. There pricing seems
ok, certainly not the cheapest but, from reading online reviews they
seem well regarded and that is perhaps worth its weight in fertiliser.
Crocus
are about the only plant specialist website around they do other stuff
but plants are their thing, they are endorsed by Alan Titchmarsh and
Charlie (the body) Dimnock, not sure if that's a good thing or not, but
the reviews are all good, when problems do arise they have good customer
service and they know their Onions. They seem to offer better
value than the B&Q type establishment and are comparable or better than
most garden centres. They also send you reminders regarding
pruning and care etc and have great resources for dealing with queries
all in all top class. They even recommend plants for seaside
gardens etc.
